With so much variety out there, it can be difficult to know what makes a piece good enough to receive a Daily Deviation (DD).
We've put our heads together with the Literature Community Volunteers (Lit CVs), to come up with some advice on what makes a DD stand out. This isn't a definitive list, nor does it guarantee that your suggestions will actually get featured, but it should help you better understand what sets DDs apart from the rest.
Emotional Reaction and Wider Appeal
Possibly the most defining feature of all successful DDs is how they connect to the reader. Reading is often a personal and intimate activity, thus the emotional conn
The importance of anatomy.
Understanding anatomy is crucial to many aspects of your art.
You'll notice that anatomy is essential for drawing. It becomes difficult to accurately draw a complex pose, or even a simple one, if you don't understand what's under all that skin or fur, or even bark. Knowing how everything fits together is important.
Once you notice where that certain muscle is, shading and form become much more accurate and more natural. Knowing why the nose and eyes fall where they do make it much easier to draw from memory, and nail that natural look you were going for.

The dA commUNIty and You
When first stumbling upon deviantArt, whether 5 months or 5 years ago, we decided to join because we wanted to share our art. We wanted our work to be seen, to be appreciated, to be understood. However, it can be a long and difficult journey from obscurity into the spotlight. Many newcomers and even long-time deviants are sometimes overwhelmed and discouraged by a seeming lack of interest and/or exposure for their work. After all, that's what dA is for, right? Not necessarily - the answer to that question is a bit more involved than a simple "yes" or "no".
Society in general has become used to instant gratification.
Group Love
deviantART is an artist dream come true and caters to artist from all artistic mediums. I know of no other
online community that is in constant contact with their members and
allows members to run their own groups with specific rules and
guidelines that you have decided for your group.
If you are not interested in becoming a founder or administrator of a group, deviantART has hundreds if not thousands
of groups for you to search and find one or more that is to your
comfort level and liking. Groups are a fantastic way to find other
artist to discuss techniques, share idea's, collaborate and make new
friends.

EDIT: Yeap, I'm still updating this, albeit slowly. I put a link up to a new program called Artweaver (at the bottom). It's a free program that mimics Painter. Good alternative for those who don't have lots of cash to blow. ;)

Ok, Im going to start a tutorial journal just in case people want some quick links to access webpages with some good info and tips on creating things. Links are generally from everywhere, ranging from articles, to personal artists websites, to art communities, to where ever. If I see it and I think it has some good stuff that will help people, it will go in here. ( :

Congratulations for sticking with me so far if you're reading this, you're pretty awesome. Thanks for your attention. I hope the first and second parts were of benefit to you; this third part is where you tie it all together.

The following is something I have shared with only a few deviants here at this site who wanted help on plotting out their stories. I used to be hesitant about sharing it with

Workshopping with Rasp: Part 2 of 3
In the first part of this workshop, I talked about how to create compelling characters. This part will be about what drives them and how to royally ruin their day so you can entertain your readers. compelling characters are useless without a story. This is where motivation and conflict come in.
MOTIVATION
What is it? A state of being that exists when needs or wants are not being fulfilled and the desire to have those needs or wants satisfied.
On a basic level, humans have needs. I hope we are familiar with Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs because that is what I'm about to draw from. If not, here's a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mas

Here it is, as promised. Keep in mind that even though I do not have formal training as a writer, these are the things I keep in mind when writing my characters. I have had varying levels of success here at dA and you are free to use my ideas or not. I'm not claiming to know it all, the below is not gospel and it's not guaranteed. But you never know.
Comments are appreciated, haters are welcome.
How to Create Compelling Characters
I can't speak for everyone but I read for compelling characters. If the characters really move me, the plot can be as thin as it wants; though it's not always easy to have characters carry the whole thing if
Here's another edition of the dictionary! This is the first time I've posted a Dictionary Entry, so I'll admit I was a tiny bit nervous. :giggle:
With the added contributors (mentioned last week), we should be able to post weekly now. So expect us popping up in your message centre more often. On another note, the Daily Deviation Project Educate Week was amazing last week, if you haven't checked out the articles - you can find them all linked below.
